RSSIf conservatives are against big government, why are they for the Homeland Security Act?

This act destroys our constitution much more than the accusations about the health care bill. Wire tapping anyone without going through the courts? Do we just throw out the constitution when things get tough, or isn't it the law of the land at all times?
Where was your outrage then…or do you only use the constitution for issues you support?
because you have to be alive to oppose big government.
Homeland Security Act? The Patriot Act?
Conservatives are against them for the most part and have been screaming.
Where have you been?
I was outraged by some of the Homeland Security Act/Patriot Act and yelled at my representative over and over again with no response.
Want to know the funny thing? Democrats who yelled, screamed and foamed at the mouth while the Republicans were in charge just quietly let everything renew under Obama. Gotta love the power of well… power.
You are correct. Just like the HC bill (which is par – anything that adds more government is against what we should be promoting), it was posed to us with the guise of being helpful and urgently necessary. because of the times, it seemed reasonable, but in retrospect, we gave a portion of our freedom away. hopefully we can reverse this trend.
They also like socialism when thousands of workers are hired to build a new plane or ship for the military.
if you're going to play that game, please tell me why the current Administration has continued and expanded the Patriot Act…..
….do you think it may have something to do with the fact that much of the groundwork for what became the Patriot Act was actually established by an ambitious young staffer in the Clinton Administration named Eric Holder?
….where was your outrage when Holder, who has openly opposed things like Internet privacy for individuals, was trotted out as your new Attorney General….or were you simply blinded by "hope"?
Because the Conservatives only want reduction in big government so they can make huge profits and pay less tax – and so they tell poor, miseducated and hungry people that they are sleep walking towards Communism.
If they just said, I don't like the big government because it interferes with my profit margin, and I won't be able to afford a new yacht – people would tell them to **** off.
If the advance of the state means that they can make a profit through selling military and surveillance technology at a premium, then they are all for it!
First off how many know the full story. Second you can't wiretap people without going through Courts now. You have to use the SECRET COURTS that have been around since long before this. Conservatives tend to believe that the purpose of the Govt was to get this PROTECT THE NATION. what a crazy idea, they go by what the main intent of the Federal Govt was. So they either don't know what is being done or believe anything needed to protect the nation is ok.
