Isle of Capri and six private entities have submitted pre-applications to obtain a casino license in Missouri.
More companies may apply by the September 1 deadline since the letter of interest was not a requirement, Missouri Gaming Commission spokesperson LeAnn McCarthy said.
the next step is to conduct a statewide analysis to determine the best locations for a new casino, McCarthy said.
Much of that attention has been focused on t Cape Girardeau after Ameristar announced that its study showed the southeastern city to be the best site.
Applicants so far:
• Isle of Capri at Cape Girardeau.
• St. Louis Capital Partners in Cape Girardeau casino.
• Bluestone Diversified Investments of Chicago proposed a St. Louis location. Bluestone principals are Brad Wilson and Rick Claes.
• Casino Celebrations, led by the owner of Casino Queen in East St. Louis, wants a casino near the Chain of Rocks Bridge in north St. Louis.
• KPS Capital of New York City, manager of a family of private equity funds, in the city of St. Louis.
• North County Development proposes a $350 million Riverview Casino on 377 acres in north St. Louis County’s Spanish Lake area.
Principals are attorney Brad Lakin of Lakin Chapman and his wife Hallie, executive Kenneth Goldstein of , and real estate investor Julie McDonald.
• Epic Gaming of Las Vegas in Sugar Creek, near Kansas City. Sugar Creek is close to Ameristar Kansas City.
in a related matter, a federal judge has denied Pinnacle’s attempt to stop the city of St. Louis from soliciting bids for another casino, the St. Louis Business Journal reported.
It is PNK’s President Casino license that the state is putting up for bid.
PNK lost the license when it expired in June because the Gaming Commission said the company was intentionally underperforming to cut costs and divert customers to its adjacent Lumiere Place.
Meanwhile, residents of Cape Girardeau will vote November 2 on whether they want a casino.
the city announced that enough signatures had been gathered on petitions to force the vote.
Residents approved casinos in their previous referendum on the issue in 1992.
